The Justice Institute offers a variety of continuing education opportunities. Our Annual Conference and Justice Institute scheduled for July 1-2, 2014 in Orlando provides two full days of continuing education credits (watch this site and www.flpicannualconference.org for additional information) from nationally recognized faculty experts in mental illness and addiction, criminal justice, law enforcement, veterans and health care policy. The conference offers a judges-only education track with specialized courses giving judges an opportunity to engage with their peers while learning from some of the nation’s foremost experts.
The Justice Institute is proud to offer its newest education tool, a Florida Bar-approved DVD collection, Representing the Mentally Ill or Addicted Client: Tools and Competencies for Working with Specialty Courts and Beyond. The 7-DVD set provides 5 hours of Mental Illness CLE; 5 hours of Substance Abuse CLE and 9 hours of General CLE credits. Florida Partners in Crisis can assist you with faculty for your upcoming meeting or conference. Our 2013 education programs included hosting, Mental Health and Public Safety: A Community Conversation for more than 300 professionals in Brevard County. We also provided faculty for the College of Advanced Judicial Studies, Florida Sheriffs Association Executive Leadership Conference, the Jacksonville Bar Association, the Florida CIT Coalition, the Healthy Families Subcommittee of the Florida House of Representatives and most recently, the 2014 Smart Justice Summit.
